Built in security within Pixel

MosaicOS runs on Google Pixel phones. There are 2 main security features built into these Pixel phones, which ensure safety. This was one of the main reasons why MosaicOS team decided to build the MosaicOS onto Google Pixel phones. Most of us are not IT guru people, so, it’s not compulsory to understand every feature. The good news is, that these benefits are invisible to users. We won’t notice anything, unless something goes wrong.

One of the built-in security features is Verified Boot and the other is the TitanM2 chip.

After a phone restart, it opens with a message, that the running operating system on the phone is different and unique. It’s a system message, the so called Verified Boot. This feature checks every piece of software that loads during the boot process using cryptographic signatures. This means that the device cryptographically proves to itself that it’s running exactly the software the manufacturer intended, every single time it starts. This unique cryptographic key is burned into a chip during manufacturing. The TitanM2 chip is a specialized chip focused on enhancing device security. Its role is to safeguard critical data and operations, like integrations and updates. If it detects anything strange, it can lock the device or trigger recovery mode. The system hardening is focused on the prevention of the attack. MosaicOS makes it harder for attackers to successfully break into the system or steal data.
