MosaicOS is based on the GrapheneOS operating system, which runs exclusively on Pixel phones. Using GrapheneOS’s open-source code, our team has developed a user-friendly, secure operating system. MosaicOS offers numerous convenience and customization features that enhance usability and personalization without compromising security or privacy in any way.
Hungarian translations are available throughout the entire system and in the applications, alongside English. Other languages are also supported, but any MosaicOS or GrapheneOS-specific content will appear in English. The font is also customizable, and new fonts can be set to appear throughout the entire system.
MosaicOS makes it easy to access the settings we use most often with a quick drop-down menu. By swiping down from the top of the notification bar, users can toggle the features that matter most to them with a single tap. This is how, for example, the Wi-Fi and mobile data tiles can be accessed. Essentially, since Android 12, the option to toggle Wi-Fi and mobile data (4G/5G) on and off with a single tap from the top drop-down menu has disappeared. This feature is available on our device, so users can choose which option to use individually, but those who don’t like this can also use the stock solution.
We’ve also “smartened up” the phone’s flashlight feature, so it can be activated instantly by holding down the power button while the screen is off. You can set a time limit for automatic shutdown, and you can even adjust the battery power used for the light, from 1% to 100%.
In addition, we have created a network traffic monitor, so you can see upload and/or download traffic in the status bar—that is, it shows how much data is currently being sent and received over the network.
MosaicOS supports the creation of multiple accounts that operate independently of one another, ensuring that all data and information remains within the account in which it was created. However, with our global clipboard, text-based information (such as passwords or identification data) can be transferred between accounts—a feature that requires the account owner’s authorization. Accounts can access this global clipboard, which facilitates communication between profiles. Any account without permission for this remains isolated. This setting can be changed at any time.
A dark theme can be enabled on MosaicOS. By default, only dark mode is available, which is easier on the eyes than the standard light mode but still uses pixels on the display. Since the devices use AMOLED displays, the black theme available on our platform can provide additional battery life. It can be optionally enabled, but you can still use only dark mode or light mode. In addition, screen rotation directions are also customizable. MosaicOS allows the display to be rotated 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees, and users can set these according to their own preferences. The blur and transparency of the quick settings and notification panel backgrounds are also freely adjustable. You can also configure each section separately to use the Material theme colors or display the theme’s base color (white, dark, black). The clock on the lock screen now features 6 additional display styles, each of which can be customized individually for color and size.
We’ve updated the dialer. MosaicOS uses LineageOS Dialer, which is open source. We’ve also added additional call recording options (e.g., recording only incoming or only outgoing calls). We have updated the legal sections related to this in consultation with lawyers. Our gallery is also open source; we use LineageOS Glimpse.
When installing MosaicOS, you can choose to automatically download apps that make things easier for the user. Currently, these include the Etar calendar and the HeliBoard keyboard. Both are also available from the Mosaic Store. The number of these recommended apps will continue to grow.
